I already know what you're thinking...where are the pics of the girls #1 All I saw was women in bikini's, pom-pom shorts & heels all day Satuarday @ the Dub Car Show so now it's the ladies turn to have a fine man draped on the hood of automobile. #2 The female to male ratio was umm let me guess... 20% female & 80%male. Ooh yes...I luv'd every minute of it.

Nas & Talib Kweli perform @ Warehouse live Aug 25th & I’ve got to keep it real. Ohmigod!! That’s the 1st thing that comes to mind when I try to sum up last night performance. It was truly an authentic hip-hop experience right down to the smell of Egyptian musk oil & Sandalwood drifting through the air. ;> All of Houston’s “who’s who” were on the scene from your dreads, B-Boys, cool @ss white dude‘s, dressed down corporate exec’s you name it we were all front row and center to experience two of the most genuine MC’s in the Hip Hop Culture.

Talib hit the stage 1st and gave us a reminiscent run through of his catalog of hits which includes one of my favorite anthem’s “Just to get by” It was a perfect song to sum up the end of a gruelling Monday. Symbolic of the daily grind that most of us ol’ school Hip-hop heads have transformed into full time corporate heads grinding hard Monday thru Friday 9 - 5/365 just to get by. The crowd exploded when Bun B joined Talib in tribute to the city of Houston & the late Pimp C.

The legendary lyricist Nas graced the stage. He took a moment to adress the crowd about his love of the artform of Hip-Hop & his hatred for the FOX Network as well as his disaproval of Jesse Jackson's lack of understanding for the new generation. (If yall don't know what's up then google it). With all the media hype surrounded by his latest endeavor the N’Word I almost forgot how truly talented Nas really is. He is one of the few original MC’s whose career goes back to the beginning where your lyrical content was more important than a catcy hook, dope beat & icy jewelry. Anyone who knows his background knows that he was tagged “the chosen one” back in the day when Illmatic dropped due to his extensive vocabulary, vivid imagery & social-political views all of which he had the guts to displayed through his rhymes. Who else could go up against Jay Z & hold his own ground? Who else had the guts to depict a scene of Jesus hang from a cross in his video? (Might I add way before Kanye’s controversial Jesus Walks.)
Ok yall…I’m sorry I got all passionate like the writer chick from Brown Sugar. My bad, I’m just a hip-hop chick at heart and this show brought me back to the good old days. Anywho! Nas killed it. I almost lost my mind when he did My personal favs' "The World is Yours," “You can Hate Me Now"& "Street Dreams.”

All I have to say is they both did any incredible job. You know you’re watching the real thing when all an artist needs is a mic, a DJ & a crowd to rock a show. It’s nice to see the raw talent. No gang of homeboys loitering onstage, no sparkling iced out chains swinging from side to side, in other words no distractions from the real source of talent. Gotta luv it.

Ps: My intention was on a whole other angle when I started this piece. But…I got caught up in the authenticity of the event. I initially wanted to talk about one of my Social Privy Pet Peeves #1 "some" of the fake @ss people that I observed in the VIP section who spent most of the show elbowing me in my side because they wanted to text message people on their blackberries all night instead of enjoying the show. I really don’t get that ish’. #2 Pseudo “super” model chicks who are either too afraid or too cute to let loose. First of all if you can’t dance or stand up longer then 3 hours in stiletto’s you should stay at home.(I personally call stiletto's house shoes because technically they shouldn't be worn for too long if ya know what I mean ;> )Don‘t hate on me & give me the "hater side eye" because I know how to have fun, look fly in some tennis shoes and still give the boys "Da Sexy-Bizness". Second of all video vixen/vampires pacing through VIP with your nose all up in the air like a thirsty bloodhound. Please stop... You look soo hungry.

Que my theme music please... "you can hate me now...but I won't stop now!"
(I’m sorry but…I had to)

Ps: "Hip hop isn't dead... it's in ICU."
